PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: EYEKO FAT BALM FOR THE LIPS AND CHEEKS IN STRAWBERRY

Here's an initial review on EYEKO FAT BALM FOR THE LIPS AND CHEEKS IN STRAWBERRY

PRICE: 5 Euros (?)

PLACE BOUGHT: FROM A SWAP

OTHER LOCATIONS: EYEKO.COM

SITE DESCRIPTION: Berry-liscious tints with light reflecting particles and added moisture for softer, sexier lips. Smooth on to cheeks too for a fruity flush. Available in 3 sheer shades.

THE VERDICT:

I've been wanting to try this line because I've read so many good reviews on the brand, especially their fat balms.

I was so fortunate enough to know that sis Jen is willing to swap her Eyeko fat balm in Strawberry with my MAC Powder Blush in Raizin. :D THANKS SIS JEN! :D

Okay, this manga- inspired make- up is really cute. Packaging- wise. I'm so loving the colorful box! I actually kept it cos it's too cute to throw away!

As you can see, it's so compact and the tube is, well, fat, thus the name FAT BALM. But it's compact nature makes it easy to slip in my make- up kit.

Check the actual product. It has slight silver and gold shimmers in it. I like it because it helps my lips catch light. Besides, the glitters don't really show on your lips and cheeks, which I like.

Swatch on my skin

Okay, So this strawberry- scented balm gives your lips a hint of red tinge with a slight sheen. It's also moisturizing and the staying power is good as well.

I tried this product on my cheeks and much to my amazement, it gives a lovely glow to my cheeks! The glow looks so natural and the staying power is great! It's a bit sticky on the cheeks when applied but it dries off to a rosy finish once it settles on your cheeks! A swipe does my cheeks some justice already because the color pay- off is good as well. :D

Overall, I love this product. It's compact and it does deliver amazing results because of how it paid off on my cheeks. Now I'm lemming for more Eyeko products! Too bad, I'm an ignoramus when it comes to ordering online. :C

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT" BENEFIT BENETINT

Here's an initial review on BENEFIT BENETINT

PRICE: 1800PHP+

PLACE BOUGHT: FROM A SWAP

OTHER LOCATIONS: EBAY.COM; MULTIPLY.COM RESELLERS

THE VERDICT:

I also got this from a swap with sis Jen (Thanks again sis!) along with the Eyeko Fat Balm.

I decided to get this because I wanna know what the hype on Benetint is all about.

What I love about this product is it smelled of roses. I also love rose- scented stuff so that's a point for this product. Another, it doesn't have an awful taste, like other lip and cheek tints so that's another point for this product.

Well, I hate to rain on the Benetint lovers' parade but this product is a total waste of money. Why did I say so?

First off, color pay- off is not amazing because I had to swipe the brush around 5- 8 times on my cheeks to get a nice color pay- off. Anything lesser than 5- 8 swipes. it's too sheer, and from afar, you can't tell that I'm wearing any cheek tint. I didn't even bother checking how long it will stay on my cheeks.

Secondly, IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE. I'd rather get Philosophy's The Supernatural Lip and Cheek tint at a much cheaper price, but it does deliver amazing results. I could also get the same effects from this cheap lip and cheek tint that you can purchase from the Mimi boutique (forgot the name). It delivers a great result, for only 150php.

Maybe this product will work well on fair skinned ladies because it has such a sheer color pay- off.

Good thing Benefit decided to come up with Posietint, a much better lip and cheek tint. Now that's my next purchase, since my mom decided to replace the Benetint with Posietint (She asked for the Benetint).

I suggest that Benefit should reformulate their Benetint product. I'd still use it, but I find Eyeko's Fat Balm better than Benetint.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: KIEHL'S ULTRA FACIAL MOISTURIZER

Here's a follow up review on KIEHL'S ULTRA FACIAL MOISTURIZER 75ML

PRICE: 950PHP (FOR 75ML)

PLACE BOUGHT: KIEHL'S, GREENBELT 5, MAKATI CITY

THE VERDICT:

Okay, so this review is 2 weeks late already. It just slipped out of my mind, sorry for that, but at least that's more time for me to gauge how good or bad this product is.

Okay, So the consistency of this moisturizer is a semi- creamy liquid moisturizer. It is absorbed easily by the skin and a little goes a long way, thanks to it's consistency that covers a good amount of facial skin when it is spread evenly.

I remember the SA in Kiehl's telling me that this ain't a recommended product for people with oily to combination skin because it has oil extracts that can contribute to a more oily facial skin surface.

Well, I've been using an oil- controlling facial cleanser and toner, both from Kiehl's as well, and I have gauged that these two battle my oiliness so I didn't worry too much about what the SA told me. Besides, it's in the FOR ALL SKIN TYPES category so this can be used by people with normal to hypersensitive skin.

After 3 weeks of usage, I have noticed that my skin has become more supple, and it looks healthier on the outside, with a "lit from within glow". I just love that my facial skin has become more radiant. Another important thing, I didn't get breakouts from the Kiehl's line.

I've mentioned before that this moisturizer is the HG moisturizer of Mary Kate Olsen. Well, I see how her skin is optimally hydrated and nourished, based on her pictures. Maybe because of the moisturizer and some other facial stuff. But I can also see that my face has that healthy sheen (take note, not SHINE) right after application because it is absorbed easily and fast by the skin. It's not oily looking, as compared to other moisturizers that takes forever to dry and contributes somehow to the oiliness of my skin.

Overall, I'm loving this product, no regrets though it really is costly, but I'm sure the big bottle will last me long because a pea- sized amount can already cover my entire face!

Velvet Musings

Velvet. It's back. (Cue: fulsome hurrah!) In honour of the tactile textile and its timely return, I've pulled this vintage relic from the back of my closet. It's a €20 dress from way way back (whenever I bought it). Kind of reminds me of Alena Akhmadullina with its peacock blue and paisley print. Paired with some Lady Gaga-inspired boots, it could easily transition into some winter evening chic. Winter. Sorry. That's back too...

Transitional Threads

Have you noticed the sudden bite in the air? Yep. Looks like summer is officially over. Not that we had much to begin with, but hey, that's another show folks. Anyhoo, it got me to thinking about the dreaded 'in between seasons' syndrome: too cold for skin; too warm for woolies. Rather than bitching about what to wear, I thought I'd raid the aul wardrobe to find some solutions.

Exhibit A:
Bib-front denim dress, Awear €35.
Nicole Miller tweed jacket, Urban Outfitters €50
Vintage print scarf, Tie Rack €2.49
Vintage briefcase, Oxfam €6
Brogues, Office €72
Key chain and bracelet, gifts
Ring, H&M €5.90

Style notes: Wear with lace or ribbed tights. Feeling Chung? Try some Alexa-style ankle socks.

THIS WEEK'S HAULS

Hi guys! Sorry, I've been lazy the past few days. I was like sleeping all day for almost three days! I'm such a sleepy- head so there really are times when I feel like being Rip Van Winkle. LOL. :D

I've held these posts in my draft posts for two days now, I was supposed to post these yesterday but as I said, I was asleep. :D

So here are my Friday Hauls from The Fort High Street, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City

I bought some stuff from Crumpler and iStudio

I bought this Red White and Gray laptop messenger bag. It's in the Mr. Strong- Tron style. This costed me 2450php. It's for Pookie. I bought this because I like that it's so convenient, I don't have to bring a separate laptop bag anymore because there's more space for my everyday bag essentials. CHECK OUT WHAT CRUMPLER GAVE ME AS A FREEBIE! :D

As much as I want to use Pookie, the MacBook, in my powerpoint presentations in my subjects in school,  I can't because I'll be needing a DVI to VGA adaptor for LCD projectors. So I decided to buy one from the iStudio. It costed me 1500php (eeep!) but at least it's something that I can use for more important stuff other than my face. :D

I got this toilet paper as a freebie from Crumpler. It's too cute! I'm on the verge of not using it!!! :D

MY SATURDAY ONLINE HAUL

I just had a dose of online shopping again. I bought a Chanel Exceptionelle Mascara in Smoky Noir from a fellow Girltalker (thanks!) and managed to swap some items for a Benefit Benetint and Eyeko Fat Balm for the Lips and Cheeks in Strawberry. Ooooh.. I'm excited for these. :D

So here are my hauls today:

I went to the Rockwell Bazaar and I saw this lovely stall that sells vintage stuff like radios, electric fans, coca- cola commemorative items, etc. It's such a haven for vintage stuff junkies like me. Realistically, the older and rarer the stuff, the pricier they become. Well, you can guess that I didn't get to purchase anything from that stall. Huhuhuhu... :/

Here's my haul from Ichigo, Urban Bazaar, Rockwell Tent, Makati City check their products HERE

Actually, I've been lemming for a nice pair of sandals for quite sometime now. My black Havaianas top will retire in no time because it's the only footwear that I'm literally using everyday. I thought the Urban Bazaar in Rockwell will be a good place to spot some good finds.
Truth be told, the clothes sold inside the tent are awesome, totally eye candies and you'll stand- out when you wear the pieces. But honestly, they're too flashy for my taste. i prefer solids, bold colors and classic prints thank you very much.

I passed by this stall named Ichigo. They sell bags and shoes leather goods. I saw this pretty neat pair of black flats that are almost gladiator- like in style.

It's priced at 780php (not bad). The leather is soft and it shelters my feet well. It's kinda slippery though but I could get used to that. I just love how it will glamourize a plain tee and shorts outfit (Martha's staple outfit)

At last, a decent pair of footwear! It's only 780php and it's soo decent! :D

At last, believe it or not, it's my first pair of decent sandals. I always wear slippers anywhere! :D
Sheesh, I gotta stock my closet with some shoes and footwear. I just realized that I don't even have a decent pair like this one!

Now let's go to my beauty hauls. I just bought this Johnson's naturally white daily moisturizing wash. I didn't notice that it was a whitening body wash. I was kinda' disappointed with myself for not reading the product description carefully. I don't wanna lose my tan that's why I'm quite disappointed with this purchaset. :/ I also bought the Neon Purple Nail Polish from Chic's Neon Nail Polishes line. It has colors in yellow, pink, metallic blue, orange and purple. I think it's their new line.

***Can't wait for my beauty purchases to arrive! Watch out for my reviews! :D

THAT'S IT FOR THIS WEEK'S HAULS. WHAT ARE YOUR THIS-WEEK'S-HAULS?"

Weekend Fashion News

It's nice to get surprises. I love the ones involving bows, ribbons and big boxes of goodies which is exactly what this weekend had on offer. First off was a visit to The Loft Market in Powerscourt Town Centre where the lovely Lisa from Perk Up Vintage sold me a 1960s Sears jacket (€30). V Eley Kishimoto. Looks just swell with my I Love Paris tee, chain link scarf and denim peg legs. Next was a goo downstairs around the newly relocated A Rubanesque. Bright and breezy with plenty of antique buttons and feathers by the yard - I now have only a few steps to go to customise any of my vintage finds. Then...drum roll please was a visit to Powerscourt's newly opened Bow Boutique. The bijou co-op is operated by Mo Muse, Matt Doody and Wendy's Wardrobe with cameo designer appearances from Eilis Boyle and Paul & Joe jewellery. I love the atelier part of shopwhere the designers alter purchases and create made-to-measure pieces. My sis got herself a Matt Doody draped tunic for €150 which we discovered can be worn in about ten different ways. Like it. Love it. To top off the day, I purchased a pair of wine brogues in Office (€72 with discount) which may well never leave my feet. With this, I ran home with the speed of acid-soaked whippet to watch X Factor (i.e. Simon Cowell). If Carlsberg made Saturdays, they'd be like this. Sigh.

MEET MY BABY, BARBIE :D

I have a new baby, and it's a Lenovo Ideapad. It's their newest budget- friendly and lightweight laptop.

It comes in 4 colors: Black, Gray, White and Pink. I got the pink one because I've been lemming for a pink gadget for quite some time now. :D

It's wi- fi ready, has a veritex face recognition system for security purposes so hackers, you might wanna find other ways to do your bad deeds. :D

The battery charger is white and it came with a free laptop bag upon purchase.

Oooohhh.... Now I don't have to worry about bringing my heavy Pookie, the MacBook. :D
