Kate and Pete ARE engaged! ♥♥♥

So its official, K and P are going to get married! After speculations, and the fact that Kate had started wearing a ring, its been confirmed.

Kate's ring.
Kate used Nick Knight's Masked Ball as an opportunity to break the news "We are engaged." Pete also said "Yes we are getting married - if she'll have me."

Pete told fans "It’s going to happen at a Scottish castle somewhere between September and November. A posh Scottish castle. That’s gonna be so cool.”

Kate wore a gold Stella McCartney dress, which was a present from her designer friend. Other guests to the star studded party included Gisele, Lizzie J, Alexander McQueen, Scarlett Johanson, Alexandra Shulman and Bobby Gillespie.

Waitresses served Champagne with victorian style hooped skirts (above), and in my opinion one of the best get-ups of the evening came from Chloe Pridham, who I've actually never heard of, who was wearing a fabulous Galliano ballgown that was featured in this month's UK Vogue as part of the feature on the Ball. Very fashion forward as always. The dress that Kate wore for the ball was the same dress that she modelled in this shoot.

Zooey D ♥'s her Opaques!

Zooey D is the one and only American English Rose. Anyone who didn't know better would notice her pale comlplexion, country walk rosey cheeks and quirky girl style and take her for an inhabitant of Blighty.

and guess what...it seems that as other girls love shoes and handbags, Zooey loves her good old reliable opaque tights. And who can blame her she wears them well, and in a majority of the pictures, looks fantastic!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is my favourite picture, although if she'd kept her simple, maybe wearing it down, I think it would have looked better. Her pretty girl blouse and really cute and suits her style and pairing it with this skirt makes the outfit unique. The whole thing makes me think of tea parties, bunny rabbits and spring...

actually, maybe sub-consciously I was thinking of Alice in Wonderland? But a brunette Alice, of course...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Not so keen on this dress Z is seen wearing with her sister. In fact, I don't really like either of their outfits, and Emily's looks a bit prom-like.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
On the other hand, I love her ensemble here. She looks sophisticated and chic.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Not so sure about her hair in this picture, but otherwise I really like this dress. Its got a vintage feel to it, maybe due the the black crochet?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I think this red dress is fantastic and Zooey looks really confident wearing it. Although is there something about her feet that look clumpy?

The Return of the Jumpsuit

Hmm, the return of the jumpsuit! I know what you're thinking- visual images of Justin Hawkins, Elvis and god knows who else are probably swimming through your mind. But 2007 is going to be the year of the jumpsuit and stars like Nicole "Lollypop Head" Richie and Scarlett J are channeling the style already. Here are some of the designer versions, fresh from the spring '07 collections.

Not so keen on the Alessandro above, it seems to be in the middle of deciding whether its sticking to this seasons style of animal print? I think my favourites are the
Salvatore Ferragamo and the first Topshop one, purely for drama factor. Because, lets be honest, can you you imagine being able to pull off walking down the street in one of those! I'd love to, but I think Kate M is the only one who can be left to the mission.

Anyone got any ideas of how to pull off the jumpsuit? And is it a fashion crime to wear short j suits with opaque tights?...

Marc Fake-obs

Catwalk ripoffs and fakes. Its a subject that usually divides people, and I have to say, I'm not a fan of people who go around paradeing cheap looking bags, just because they have a big LV sign stitched all over it.

but.... if the catwalk version is nice, and the fake is a thumbs up, why not go for it!?
Theres no point in being a label snob, if the fake version is minus the ridiculous price tag!

So, here are some the two MJ versions that I came across. Obviously, the real MJ would be amazing, but I think that at the age of 15, its unrealistic to aim so high!

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Fred Flare's version, £26 (about $50)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Will the real MJ please stand up? The Leather Stam bag, £760! (about $1,400)

I personally think that the Fred one looks better, I like the fact that the chain is darker, and the stitching is more eyecatching. Its funny, the Marc one actually looks like the faux one! But maybe thats just the picture?
What do you think?

English Rose

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Doesn't Rose Byrne look lovely in this little yellow dress by Marc by Marc Jacobs? Her dark tights and accessories cast a wintery look over the outfit, but her rosey complexion adds warmth to the ensemble.
Very convieneint too, that shes wearing Marc Jacobs to the premier of a film by Sofia. Do you think her guests feel obliged to wear her best friend's designs? They're so lovely that its more likely that they wore them out of choice.
Ahh, Marc.

Mischa grunge?

Is Mischa Barton going grungey?
Hmm, well if she is, it's certainly working well. Maybe her relationship with rock star Cisco is having an effect on her style....

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Mischa looks fab here in a artistic rock tee and kate moss style waistcoat, and her chanel bag adds a bit of "marissa"

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Looking very grunge chic here outside ultimate hangout Chataux Marmont. In an baggy ghettoblaster tee and skinnies. She could have swiped on some smeary red lippie and gone all courtney love on us! Maybe?...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Here M is wearing a cool paint splatted tee. It looks kind of homemade, but you just know she probably forked out a stupid amount of money for it! Her bling is pretty cool too.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Mischas making a political statement with her "drop knowledge not bombs" tee. hmm, not quite sure what this means, but meh, dropping knowledge has surely got to be better than dropping bombs! And who else wears a political slogan tee on a trip to the petshop. She wears it with a dress by Alice McCall, and black slouchy boots. See below, her lovely black leather oversized handbag. If only Ziggy was wearing a matching outfit...

Satchels

Again, this is another post influenced by someone I know.

I was at a cookery course that I do at a local restaurant on tuesday evenings and Sophie who also does it was wearing a really nice outfit. It was lovely and wintery!

A big cosy red wooly beanie hat, with skinny jeans, green converse and a lovely old leather satchel handbag. [Can't remember what top she was wearing, but I think it was grey?] She looked fantastic, and her bag reminded me of my mission to find a satchel after seeing a really nice one when I was on my work experience week. Unfortunately, when I asked S where her bag was from, she said she didn't know, as she found it in her room and thinks it is her sisters. Which is rather annoying, but also probably pretty cool for her?

Don't you love that feeling when you find something really cool that belonged to a relative or something? Like an old pair of heels or something, and you feel smug because you didn't have to shell out £30 for the fact it was "vintage".

So here are some pictures of retro satchels that I've scoured the internet for [thank god for ebay!]

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I found this old 1970s school satchel on ebay for £7.50. It makes me think of films like The Railway Children or anything set in the 1940s where the children have their leather satchels, school caps and long grey socks! [actually, thinking about it, thats quite a 2007 winter look!]

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This bag reminds me most of Sophie's bag; quite light in colour and in pretty good condition. I really like this one, might have to get it!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I like this, as its different from the others. It's really cute and is better in a way as it doens't way you down as much as the other slightly bulkier designs

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is what I meant when I was talking about The Railway Children! This is a real 1940s wartime leather satchel.

If you like the look of these satchels and want to find some for yourself, I just typed "vintage leather satchel" into eBay.

Layering and Japan

Ok, so this post is kind of about two things. My current love of Layering, and my current love of Japan.

Would also like to mention my friend lily, who embraced the style of layering when I went for a meal with her and a friend the other night, and she looked fantastic, wish I could have taken a picture. She was wearing little brown leather slouchy boots, a purple H and M shirt with a carigan over the top, shorts, tights and to top it all off, wound around her neck a long wooly purple scarf, which was given to her as a christmas present last year from our BF Charlotte.

But anyway, other than Lost In Translation, my current love for Japan is because a friend of the family recently gave me some old japanese magazines that she was going to throw out. I'm in love with some of the pictures in there and wish I had a scanner to show some of the amazing styles of some people. But, I did find some pictures on someones Flickr site. I especially love the second picture. It really demonstrates how great the japanese are at layering and shows wearing clashy patterns can work really well.

Heres the site address for the page where I found the pictures, its worth having a peek, they're good.

More examples of Japanese layering....

check out the girl on the left with all her cardigans-she looks fantastic! The colours look great together and I love the metalics. Reminds me of Ana from the OC! [see below, looking Hawt]

Love the girl on the rights outfit. I love her puffa jacket/gilet thing, isn't it typical that when I had a big fat silver one when I was little, I didn't like it, but I love this. Mind you, I probably still wouldn't wear a puffa jacket/gilet even if i had one. I'd feel a bit too much like a marshmallow! The Picture of camoflague, beanie and skinny jeans finish off the outfit very well, I think!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I think this outfit is very Rachel Zoe! But better...

And look, even the tour guides in Japan look good!

THAT IS ALL
