Yummie Tummie™

Prefer to eat your muffins than wear them? Me too; although now that I'm wheat intolerant, I have to make do with gluten free macaroons. But hey, I digress. If you, like many women, are looking for a smooth silhouette sans lumps and bumps, a Yummie Tummie™ could be your answer. Created by fashion designer and celebrity stylist Heather Thomson, the new shapewear tops bear the appearance of a luxe tank or tee with the benefit of a firm control midsection panel. What's more, the clever fabric technology also acts like a yoga instructor, making you stand and look taller. I trust Heather. Having worked with J-Lo and Beyoncé, the woman knows a thing or three about how to dress real curves. Since nabbing one, I've been wearing mine under dresses and as a tank with jeans - blissfully delighted that my ribs aren't crushed and circulation cut off like some shapewear garments (ahem - you know who you are). I've now got my beady eyes on the lace tank - very AW09 - very mine! Get yours at Brown Thomas 01- 605 6666.

a little bird told me

[mariacarla-02.jpg]
"Karlie is like my little sister. We share the same birthday and love the same things-especially food! She recently came over to London and stayed with me. I took her to Nando's and she loved it." Jourdan Dunn on Karlie Kloss.

"It's amazing how she goes on influencing every generation" Barbara Hulanicki on Audrey Hepburn.

"This is more than a capsule collection. It's proper: with bags, shoes, knitwear and dresses. It's nothing like any other work I've done in the past. Everything is a bit "wow"." Christopher Kane on his highly, highly anticipated Topshop collection.

"As a heterosexual man, I was always a bit embarrassed of being a fashion photographer and didn't have the confidence to describe myself that way. Now I do have the confidence. It's a weird thing to do, I know, but I just kind of got into it and I think I do it very well." Juergen Teller.

"I think it's super-important for kids to have an imagination, to create their own world as opposed to just being surrounded by televisions and toys." Daria Werbowy's parenting approach.

Armand Basi One @ Asos.com

It was one of the shows that I missed at London Fashion Week last season - and definitely missed out on. Armand Basi One's combo of fluid tailoring and sumptuous natural fibres lends itself to understated luxury. More to the point, a limited collection is available now at Asos.com. I'm loving this wool and angora asymmetric sweater dress at €257.68 and the cashemere blend harems at €321.77. As I am currently crunching my credit however, I'll have to maintain a healthy enthusiasm at a distance...where no one can see me sobbing. Sigh.

New Schuhs

Liking my Lady Gaga-inspired ankle boots? Me too - only I can't quite decide what to wear them with. Go totally 80s on it with leopard print leggings, tee and man blazer or simple with a shift dress. Decisions decisions. There's always the sequin hotpant combo - inside the house methinks.

inspiration on a wednesday

this week's 'inspiration on a wednesday post' is a lovely collage that my gorgeous abby made for me. i know, i know, it's kind of cheating, using somebody else's work. but it's the coolest collage packed indeed with many things that both inspire me and make me blush in that best way possible. and besides, abby isn't just somebody else.

so here you are. now away you go, and do some potting of plants, arrange perfectly drooping flowers into glasses or jars, brew yourself a cuppa and sit dangling your legs over the side of the counter like lesley arfin while you drink it. and when you're done with that, reorganise your shoes!

if lux lisbon had lived past fourteen

[lux+lisbon.jpg]
images, dan martensen

to me, these images have lux lisbon written all over them. right down to the crooked family teeth.

"We managed to see the pockmarked moon steaming silently across space, then blue venus, but when we turned the telescope on Lux's window it brought us so close we couldn't see a thing. What at first appeared the xylophone of her spine, curled in bed, turned out to be decorative molding. A stringy peach pit, left on her bedside table from a time of fresh food, gave rise to a number of lurid conjectures. Any time we caught sight of her, or of something moving, the piece was too small to put the puzzle together, and in the end we gave up, retracting the telescope and relying on our eyes."
- The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides

i love you more than being seventeen

it's one minute until I turn eighteen. here is what being seventeen has meant to me.

seventeen is the thrill of strolling past the bouncers and into a bar without getting IDed.

it's being interested in politics and reading about elections and knowing that you're this close to being able to vote for yourself.
it's the third from last year. which means staying up late feeling passionate about song lyrics, feeling like you have slight license to be that little bit more self indulgent than "real" adults.
it's smiling when you hear julian casablancas singing "i love you more than being seventeen" and knowing how strong that love must be.
it's borrowing a friend's passport and learning off by heart their signature contact details in case of emergency.
it's looking back at your friend's 14 year old sibling, marveling at those last three years and everything that has changed.
it's knowing that you can drive if you really want (in the uk at least) but moaning about the cost of road tax and petrol.
it's leaving school, leaving behind people that you know, cutting ties even when you don't want to, looking forward and taking with you all the snippets of information and words of advice from special teachers.

goodbye seventeen, it was a good year. one of the best!

TWO REASONS TO HEART VIVA VENA CAVA: 1. The Brooklyn based designers share what is currently making their hearts flutter as opposed to using the page as a medium to shove Vena Cava brand down our throats (though in any case, I think I'd open my mouth quite happily). 2. The content is pleasingly meaty; a review for a cult film here, a behind the scenes look at business trips/birthday parties, and lots of mouthwatering textiles.
YOU'LL BE INSPIRED TO: buy alternative lifestyle interiors books from the 1970s and do whatever you can do to secure a job working in as lovely an environment with people as interesting and cool as the Vena Cava girls.
ANYTHING ELSE? Designers Sophie and Lisa have included their own playlists in the sidebar so you too can listen to the very music that plays in their office as the latest VC pieces come into fruition.

TWO REASONS TO HEART STYLEULIKE: 1. Just as our thirst for nosey The Selby-esque sites increases, luckily so do the amount of wardrobe raiding, apartment trespassing hoodlum bloggers. Elisa and Lily's StyleLikeU is a perfect example. 2 the two have the ever so tiresome job of hanging out in closets with various New Yorkers going through the owner's favourite pieces. Not only do they give us photos to gawp over- the whole thing is filmed too!
YOU'LL BE INSPIRED TO:
reorganise your wardrobe, go vintage shopping or generally replicate the entire look of your favourite style case studies.

and on we go

[florence+and+the+machine.jpg]

sorry about the break in posting!
have just come back from my second festival of the season.
still reeling after that indescribable experience of a post-festival shower.
now playing catch up and starting on some new posts.
what have you all been up to?
tell me something that is making your heart flutter at the moment.
a pair of shoes, a book, a song lyric, a cake recipe, a lady or lad?

and ps, for those who feel the need to know, or care, it's my birthday in 2 days!
I have reverted back to my 7 year old self with pre-anniversary anticipation and spasms of excitement.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: MAC MATTE EYESHADOW IN CHROME YELLOW

Let's look at MAC MATTE EYESHADOW IN CHROME YELLOW.

This is rated a 4.1 out of 5 by the girls in makeupalley. It's an intense matte yellow shade.

THE VERDICT:

The reason why I bought this eyeshadow is because it's such a unique color. All the yellow eyeshadows I see and buy are either too light or too sheer. This color is what I meant by YELLOW EYESHADOW.

It seems chalky at first but as you swipe your brush continuously on the e/s, the texture eventually becomes "buttery", just like my Carbon e/s, which is also a matte variant.

The color reminds me of the feathers of a peacock. It's really good for highlighting if you apply a small amount and if you layer it, it gives an intense yellow color.

This is also good for the stage because it could pass off as a gold eyeshadow, without being shimmery, (matte make- up is the recommended variant for the stage). This is also good in making my peepers appear bigger on stage.

I like how it adds a pop of color on my lids whenever I use this. This is buildable so you could control the yellow color on your eyes. Imagine the multiple possibilities if you use this with blue, purple, black, green, pink and orange eyeshadows! This is also great for night outs because it adds a dash of color on your eyes.

I just hope we have this color in our country along with the Show Orchid Lipstick.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: NARS POWDER BLUSH IN ORGASM

Let's look at NARS POWDER BLUSH IN ORGASM.

This blush color is an award- winning shade from Nars' collection and is quoted as one of the best blushes ever created.

I got mine from a pabili from a friend in the USA

THE VERDICT:

Let's start with the case. The blush looks really expensive and classy because of the rubberized packaging. Although it looks very nice, I hate how it gets dirty easily. I just put it in my make- up kit this morning and when I'm about to retouch, I see powder spills and scratches on the rubber casing, which makes it look very used, though I just got this yesterday. What's worse, it's really hard to take the stains off of the case. I hate it but seems like the scratches will be there forever.

The compact has a mirror, which makes it convenient, but I just hope they include a brush. As you can see, the color is a peach- pink shade with hints of gold shimmer.

Here's a swatch. This blush is absolutely pigmented and I love the shimmer that it gives to my cheeks. The shimmer is not overpowering and it gives your cheeks a summer glow. Layer it for maximum color pay- off and 1- 2 swipes is enough to give you a pink- peach- bronze glow. I'm an NC42 and it really looks fab on morenas because it enhances a tan skin (ala sun goddess :D). I also think that this will be a pretty peach choice of blush for fair skinned ladies, which will give their cheeks a summer glow.

Will I buy this again? It's a yes and a no. Yes, if I have the budget and No, because I really love pink blushes. I might buy another Nars blush, but I'll try their pink shades.

I see why people rave about this product so much because without a doubt, it's really a lovely color. It's versatility in giving fair and dark skin tones a lovely flush makes this a winner. There are some peach blushes that look orange on fair skin tones and look terracotta and sheer on dark skin tones. So I must say, it's really worth owning an Orgasm.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: TARTE MINI LIPGLOSS

Let's look at TARTE'S PURSE YOUR LIPS LIMITED EDITION LIPGLOSS COLLECTION

I only actually have one of the glosses. I have the second to the last lipgloss. It's a milky- pink shade. I saw this from a friend and I tried buying it off her make- up stash. She sold it to me at 350php. It's kinda' expensive for a tiny tube but I don't care, it's so lovely!

The picture below is the pic of the original product, which contains 9 limited edition shades by Tarte. This retails at $39.

Lovely, ain't it?

THE VERDICT:

This is the actual product. Im into pink shades right now so when I fondled with her make- up kit, I saw the lovely clutch with tons of cute tarte lipglosses inside and this color really caught my eye. It also smelled like caramel in the tube.

I applied it on top of my NYX l/s in Tea Rose and I must say, it really did wonders! The milky- pink color of the gloss enhanced my nyx lipstick without making it too light. It gave a nice pink nude finish with a fabulous shine.

What made me love this more is, it made my Nyx l/s stay put for hours, which goes to show that this l/g has a good staying power. It also keeps my pucker moist too!

Actual lipgloss

Lip swatch

The only con of this product is, there's not much lipgloss inside the tube so you might empty this up faster than you think if you really like wearing this. Another bad thing, it's unavailable locally. I just hope some company brings Tarte to the Philippines!

**OMG, I'm thinking of asking a friend to buy me this in the USA. Gastooosss!!! :D

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME? (BLOG PROBLEMS)

I CAN'T VIEW MY FOLLOWERS. AND IT'S NOT SHOWING IN THE FOLLOWERS BAR, WHICH IS RIGHT ABOVE MY ENTRIES. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS. I HAVEN'T DELETED OR REMOVED THE FOLLOWERS BOX IN MY LAYOUT SETTINGS BUT THE TINY HEADSHOTS ARE NOT SHOWING WHENEVER I TRY TO VIEW MY BLOG.

The 12th Fashion Bloggers' Brunch

Another month - another Fashion Bloggers' Brunch. The location? M&S Grafton Street Rooftop Restaurant - complete with a birdseye gawk of Grafton Street and its pre-U2 tourist frenzy. Joining us this month were the Savvy Shopper, Perk Up Vintage and Blanaid.com. Whilst muching on nachos, sipping cava and decimating the world's yummiest fishcakes (yum-ness!), I got the D.L. on the best vintage markets in Paris (Offshoot), Topshop's €20 sale-tastic loafers (Savvy Shopper), Blue Eriu's new €15 fuchsia lippie balm (Ms. Scanlon) and deets on the next upcoming vintage fair (Perk Up). To cap things off a bit more bubbly was in order along with a delicious helping of Eton Mess. Oh...Perk Up also loaned me the most divine Charleston frock for an upcoming shoot. Two and a half hours later the convo continued until we realised...they'd be closing soon. As my mom always says, "know when to leave". Quite the task. Splendid. Very splendid indeed.

HAUL FROM THE STATES!

Finally, the stuff i ordered from my friend from the u.s.a. has finally i arrived!
Well, not everything's mine, some of these are for my friends. I JUST WISH EVERYTHING'S MINE. Just to give you an idea of the stuff in this loot, here are the products:

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Deep Dark and Medium Dark)
Nars blush in Orgasm
MAC Matte Eyeshadow in Chrome Yellow
MAC Satin lipstick in Retro
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC42
MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NC42
Now, off to my hauls.

I still lack some airbrush stuff from MAC here and an NC30 Studio Fix Powder Pact. I just couldn't imagine how happy I'll be if all of these were mine! :D

THESE ARE THE STUFF THAT I ACTUALLY ORDERED. NOT MUCH, BUT I LACK HERE TWO MUFE EYESHADOWS, WHICH ARE UNFORTUNATELY, OUT OF STOCK (BOO!)

FOTDS, REVIEWS AND SWATCHES TO FOLLOW! :D

FOTD: LV SUMMER (MY LUXURY LUST CONTEST ENTRY)

STUFF USED:
MAC STUDIO FIX POWDER PLUS FOUNDATION (NC42 AND NC40)
MAC EYESHADOWS IN CHROME YELLOW, CARBON, RICEPAPER AND GLAMOUR CHECK!
NARS BLUSH IN ORGASM
LAURA MERCIER CAVIAR EYELINER IN BLACK
LANCOME JUICY GLOSS
EVER BILENA PENCIL EYELINER IN BLACK
MAC MATTE LIPSTICK IN RUSSIAN RED

Here's my FOTD of the day which serves as an entry for Fashion 514's contest entitled Luxury Lust (for the details, click the link at the end of this post).

I've always loved and admired the timeless elegance of Louis Vuitton. I told myself, I'll have one of these one day. Truth be told, these bags are truly a luxury so it's not just like buying a pair of heels.

I have a couple of Pradas, which are sleek, black and classy. They're actually very good accessories but when I had the chance to grab an LV, I did it. And it was a good choice. The monogram classic will always be timeless, and it never fails to spice up any outfit. What's more, whenever I'm gonna bring my speedy 25 for the day, for some weird reason, I automatically dress up. And when you're dressed up and primped, you feel pretty, confident and beautiful, which are the essences of attaining a good balance for a woman. But if course, these essences shouldn't be based on material stuff alone, but what I'm trying to say is, whatever that makes you feel beautiful, DO IT OR WEAR IT. It's just like a lucky charm, you wear it because you want luck. If you find something that will make you feel confident and beautiful, WEAR IT OR DO IT.

WARNING: CAMWHORING AHEAD! :D

HERE'S AN EYE SHOT

TO END THIS ENTRY, HERE'S ME, MODELING MY LOUIS VUITTON MONOGRAM SPEEDY 25., THE GREATEST HAUL OF MY LIFE SO FAR. AND NOT TO MENTION, THIS IS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND MY MAKE- UP.

I WANTED A SUMMER- Y LOOK SO I CHOSE TO CREATE THIS. IT HAS AN AVANT- GARDE QUALITY WITHOUT GOING OVERBOARD. ACTUALLY, A LITTLE ALTERATION COULD MAKE THIS LOOK WEARABLE! :)

I LOVE HOW THE YELLOW, PEACH AND BROWN BLENDED MARVELOUSLY TO CREATE THIS SUMMER LOOK. I ALSO CHOSE THESE COLORS BECAUSE I KNOW THAT IT WOULD COMPLIMENT THE LOVELY CLASSIC MONOGRAM LV STYLE. I DECIDED TO APPLY RED LIPSTICK AND ADD THE RED BANDANNA TO COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER, FRENCH- STYLE. :)

**LUXURY BAGS ARE QUITE ADDICTING..I'M ACTUALLY LEMMING FOR A MURAKAMI ALMA...GOTTA CONTROL MYSELF!!!! :D

....GIRLS, THEY CAN'T GET ENOUGH. :D

Miss Wax

For those who appreciate urban Americana miscellany (and who doesn't?), Miss Wax jewellery is bound to be right up your funky town. Founder Kylee Faus has produced some bitchin' bijou mostly of old vinyl records - hand-painted and assembled in Cali. I'm hearting majorly on the gas pumps. Too cute. And look out for limited edition Hellz Bellz collaboration ring and earring set dropping soon!

For Glove - Not Money

I got the most lickable email today about fingerless gloves. Yes that was 'lick'; not 'like'. Like is far too pedestrian a word for these beauties. But hardly your Claire's Accessories fare. This arm candy comes compliments of GlovedUp.com and its founder/designer Laura Shepherd. Worn by Anna Piaggi, Dita Von Teese, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, La Roux, Madonna, Peaches (the original; not Geldof); photographed by Mario Testino, Miles Aldridge, Solve Sundsbo, Steven Meisel, Peter Lindbergh; styled by Arianne Phillips, Lucinda Chambers, Patti Wilson, Karl Templer; and featured in i-D, Harpers Bazaar, Numéro, Tatler , Vogue (UK, Italia, Nippon, Russia), and W amongst others, you could say this chick has arrived. Then why is something so delicious such a secret?
Says Laura "I work alone; a mega-multi-tasker. And I make most of the gloves myself. I fact I do everything Glovedup myself;the press, photography, website (www.Glovedup.com), and all the dull jobs too. It’s a DIY endeavour and I do it for glove - not money."
A total artist! Spread the word and your arms - and give Laura a big fashion hug. Air kissing is so done.

A Bathing Ape®

Cult Japanese streetwear brand - A Bathing Ape® - have relaunched their European flagship tore to London's Upper James' Street after a 6 month hiatus at Dover Street Market. The label's loyal fan base which includes artists Pharrell, Jay-Z and The Beastie Boys, will no doubt be queueing as per usual for its ltd. ed. tees, jeans and hoodies. Oh, and keep an eye out for some new watches, ties, socks and undies too.

A Bathing Ape® - 4 Upper James Street, London, W1F 9DG.

Lamé- the New Sequins

Just when the AW09 trends hit the rails, people like me start complaining. I'm sorry but I'm kind of done with the whole sequin shtick already. Maybe it's the posthumous MJ association; or the fact that every Menkes, Schulman and Wintour will be rocking the trend but I'm having none of it. Instead I've opted for these bitchin' lamé capri pants in 70s-tastic paisley. Loud? Perhaps. Pair it with a tailored black blazer and you've got instant outre appeal. I'm trial-running these at Saturday's Fashion Bloggers' Brunch. Accessorised with fruit and a mimosa - how very louche!

MY UPDATED LIPSTICK COLLECTION

HI GUYS! SORRY, THIS POST IS QUITE LATE. MY GLOBE BROADBAND'S LIKE A SLOWPOKE SO I HAVE TONS OF ENTRIES THAT ARE ON HOLD.

BTW, HOW'S YOUR WEDNESDAY? I HAD A BLAST WITH MY OPENING NIGHT AS SEPANG LOCA IN OUR PLAY, HAD A GREAT DINNER AND COFFEE WITH HUBBY AND DECIDED TO GO HOME EARLY BECAUSE I FINALLY REALIZED THAT I NEED REST.
TOO BAD, I'M NOT FEELING SLEEPY WHEN I GOT HOME SO I DECIDED TO PUT MYSELF TO SLEEP BY DOING SOMETHING.

I WAS FONDLING WITH MY MAKE- UP BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO SURF THE NET BECAUSE I'M AFRAID I'LL GET HOOKED AND END UP SLEEPING AT 5 A.M., WHICH SHOULDN'T HAPPEN BECAUSE I HAVE A CLASS IN THE MORNING!
TRULY, TEMPTATION IS TOO HARD TO RESIST AND I NEVER THOUGHT THAT MY MAKE- UP FONDLING WILL BE THE CAUSE OF MY NET SURFING! GOOD LUCK TO ME TOMORROW. :P

ANYWAY, I'D JUST LIKE TO SHARE THAT AS OF THE MOMENT, THE LIPSTICK IS MY MOST FAVORITE MAKE- UP ITEM. I JUST LOVE HOW IT MAKES MY LIPS PRETTY AND HOW IT INSTANTLY GLAMORIZES A DULL- LOOKING FACE. I ALWAYS BUY LIPSTICKS IN SHADES OF PINK, REDS, BROWNS AND NUDES BECAUSE THESE COLORS SUIT ME THE MOST AND I ALSO LOVE THE COLORS. TEH VIOLETS/ PURPLES ARE JUST UNIQUE AND NICE LOOKING. OFTENTIMES, I'D SPORT BROWN LIPS BUT MOST OF THE TIME, I'D SPORT PINK LIPS. ALSO, I PREFER MATTE LIPSTICKS. IT'S CLASSY AND I LOVE THE VINTAGE LOOK AND FEEL OF IT (ESPECIALLY RED LIPSTICKS). I REALY DON'T LIKE FROST VARIANTS BECAUSE THEY MAKE MY TEETH LOOK YELLOW AND IT FEELS ROUGH ON THE LIPS. I'M ALSO NOT FOND OF GLOSSY LIPSTICKS BECAUSE THEY LOOK AND FEEL MESSY IF I ACCIDENTALLY TOUCH MY LIPS. PLUS, THEY GO OFF EASILY. I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT! I'M ACTUALLY REFRAINING FROM CHECKING OUT BOBBI BROWN AND MAC COUNTERS BECAUSE I MIGHT END UP PURCHASING A LIPSTICK! I HAD AN ACCIDENTAL HAUL LAST TIME, WHICH IS THE BOBBI BROWN CREAMY LIPCOLOR THOUGH I WAS OUT OF BUDGET ALREADY. THE COLOR I GOT IS SOO NICE, THE PACKAGING IS SO SLEEK AND I'M LOVIN, THE TEXTURE. I OVERALL LOVE THE LIPSTICK. THAT WAS AN EXTRA COST WORTH 1350PHP! :D

AS OF THE MOMENT, I HAVE 15 LIPSTICK TUBES, IF I DIDN'T SELL MY MAC LUSTRE LIPSTICK IN TOUCH, IT WILL BE 16 ALL IN ALL. SO HERE'S AN UPDATE OF MY CURRENT LIPSTICK COLLECTION. ENJOY!

I'M ACTUALLY GOING TO TRY SOME LIPSTICKS FORM BOBBI BROWN (OH NO, BROKELAND, HERE I COME). BUT I'M VERY CERTAIN THAT I'LL BE PURCHASING ST. GERMAIN IF EURISTOCRATS 2 COMES TO THE PHILIPPINES. FINALLY, IT WAS REFORMULATED.

SERIOUSLY, I HAVE TO REFRAIN FROM HOARDING LIPSTICKS OR ELSE I'LL GO BROKE AND BE FORCED TO WEAR EVERY SINGLE COLOR ON EVERY SINGLE DAY IF I'M CONSIDERING EMPTYING THE TUBES UP!!! :D

THE REDS: THE FACE SHOP COLOR CARE LIPSTICK IN 301, MAC MATTE LIPSTICK IN RUSSIAN RED, MAC MATTE LIPSTICK IN DIVA
